Riana Van Wyk is a prominent South African singer, songwriter, and vocal coach with over thirty years of experience. She works across several music styles but is best known for her Afrikaans music, spiritual content, and successful children's albums.
Her music career started young. In 1989, she founded the Riana van Wyk School of Music, which is now the Riana van Wyk Performers Institute, located in Brackenfell, Cape Town. She secured her first professional record deal in 1997 and has since worked with many major companies, including Noelina Music, Hoezit Music, Select Music (a division of Sony Music Entertainment Africa), Tate Music, and Sony Music.
She is a highly qualified and active vocal coach, holding a Diploma in Teaching and a Level 6 Diploma in Music Performance from the University of West London, along with a Diploma in Christian Counselling. Her albums frequently feature a religious focus, as she is committed to sharing Christian beliefs through her music. Notable projects include the 2004 children's album Storietyd, the 2009 album You're My Glory, and the 2014 spiritual album Stories van Jesus (a collaboration with Myrtle Visser). In 2018, an album of her original children's songs reached gold status. She also dedicates time to fundraising, having helped raise over R100,000 for charity through performances with her students since the year 2000.
